It is imperative to have a website, especially for small businesses and start-ups.

As a consumer of goods and services, I value the ability to go to the web and learn about a business, even if it’s presented from their perspective. Other than the very elderly, I do not know of anyone doesn’t use the Internet to find or research - businesses, products or services. Knowing that, why a business would choose not to have a website is perplexing. Creating one is more affordable than ever, with most hosting services offering user-friendly, do-it-yourself templates that eliminate the need to hire a developer.

Here's my 4 reasons why I believe a website is an essential advertising tool for small businesses:

1.     Websites are the most popular method for researching a business or company.

2.     All direct or indirect advertising will lead back to your website.

3.     The website is the single most relevant advertising asset:

  • Nearly every contact, prospect or customer will visit a company's website.

  • It is likely to be the first “presentation” (and impression) of your business for any new visitor.

  • It may be the most important opportunity to showcase your company’s product or service.

4.     The website provides the best overall value as an advertising asset:

  • It is continuously accessible 24/7, 365 days a year.

  • It provides an autonomous presentation of your business.

  • It is the most economical, continuous advertising medium.

I hope this will inspire you into considering developing a website for your business.
